COM-2000 Setup and Basic Operation

COM2000 is a special software package that permits downloading of data logged information, calibration and programming of the QUADRANT portable gas detector.

Requirements:

 

  • QUADRANT Portable Gas Detector

  • Download/charging module

  • Power supply

  • COM2000 software

  • Serial Cable - DB9 male connects to charger/download module

  • - DB9 or 25 for the computer

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

(NOTE: adapter may be required)


1. Install COM2000 following the instructions provided with the software disk.


2. Turn on the computer and load COM2000 by clicking on the appropriate folder and COM2000 icon.


3. Attach the serial cable to the computer.


4. Click on the Communication menu button at the top of the screen and set for the appropriate COM port.


5. Plug power into the QUADRANT charger/download module.


6. Plug the serial cable into the charger/download module.


7. Drop the instrument into the charger/download module. The LED on the front of the module should turn red. If the instrument has been in the charger/download for longer than 10 minutes it should be removed and re-inserted before proceeding.


8. Click on the connection button to initiate communication between the instrument and computer.


9. Upon completion of the connection process the main gas display screen appears. It shows the current values and settings for each sensor installed. If a connection error is encountered, verify that proper COM part has been chosen and that no other programs are trying to use the same COM port. Sometimes it may be necessary to reduce the communication speed.
